In 2016, AF Protection were requested to undertake a complete refurbishment of the Devonport Dockyard accommodation blocks as part of Project Armada being managed by Interserve. In total, nine blocks required fire stopping and penetration upgrades on all of their internal fire walls in order to meet regulations.
A systematic programme was established where upon operatives would work to complete a single block working top down as quickly as possible in order to minimise disruptions. During the completion of the works, all of the accommodation blocks remained live and operatives were required to be as courteous and considerate as possible when carrying out their works as to not to disturb the day-to-day life of personnel.
Progress on the project maintained a steady and acceptable pace which appeased not only the staff on site but also Interserve management. Throughout the project there were no severe hinderances and issues that did arise on site were immediately resolved and a plan of action implemented. Buildings were inspected and certified upon completion at the request of client.
After a year of planned works, in mid-2017, the last building was completed. AF Protection have received numerous compliments from the client for the way the works were undertaken and completed and have subsequently received a host of further contracts to complete. The contract value for the project neared £350,000 which makes it one of the largest to be undertaken by AF Protection. The project as a whole was a delight to undertake and we are exceptionally pleased with the results and the positive feedback received from Interserve.
